Waveguides in sonification
| Abstract | Digital waveguides have been used in signal processing for modelling room acoustics. The same technique can be used as model-based sonification, where the data of a given phenomenon serve as physical model of a hollow body. The resulting sounds are intuitive to understand as they simulate real world acoustics. As an example we introduce a digital waveguide mesh based on three-dimensional data from computational physics which allows exploring different types of clusters in the data set. |
