ACOUSTIC INTERFACE FOR TREMOR ANALYSIS
| Abstract | The presented research project “Acoustic Interface for tremor Analysis”1 aims at the development of methods for real-time acoustical tremor diagnosis. Based on the analysis and sonification of three dimensional acceleration data of hand movements of tremor patients, differences among tremor types are made audible and clearly recognizable. The sonification algorithms complement and expand the existing tools neurologists have at their disposal, allowing the formulation of more confident diagnoses. In this paper we will explain the importance of tremor diagnosis in the clinical context and describe our approach to analysis and sonification. We will describe three preliminary sonification experiments we conducted on recorded tremor movement data and report our first observations. Based on these observations, we will also shortly outline the central topics of future research. |
