Abstract This work discusses different types of clipping, the automatic detection of clipped areas as well as their restoration with a strong focus on computational time. Several methods for the detection and the restoration are presented and compared; including cubic interpolation, representation via sparse models, linear prediction and interpolation using a modified conjugate gradient method.
