Info for entering Bachelor students in Electrical Engineering and Audio Engineering

Information on enrolment for the Electrical Engineering and Audio Engineering degree programme

The two main institutes for training in Electrical Engineering and Audio Engineering are:
Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik (IEM) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), Inffeldgasse 10, Tel.: 389-3170
Institut für Signalverarbeitung und Sprachkommunikation at the Technical University Graz (TUG), Inffeldgasse 12, Tel.: 873-7459.

In order to prove that you have the necessary artistic aptitude to enter this study program, you must pass an Entrance Exam at KUG.

After you have passed the Entrance Exam, you have two options:

Admission after you have passed the entrance exam

Please mind: After passing the entrance exam, you are not automatically admitted to the degree programme – the enrolment must be carried out, as well! You can decide to enroll either at KUG or at TU Graz, since the degree programme Electrical Engineering and Audio Engineering is set up as an inter-university degree programme of the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG).

Note: There are different admission periods at the two universities! After passing the entrance exam, the results are announced as well at KUG as at TU Graz. After you have completed the admission at one of the two universities, there will be an automatically exchange of data between them, which means that you will be reported/enrolled at the other university automatically. If you wish to speed up this process, you have to contact the Registrar's Office by submitting your enrolment log from the other university:

- the enrolment has to be carried out in due time via e-mail! For further information, please see also "First steps to becoming a student"!

OR

- the enrolment has to be done personally at the Registration Office of TU Graz Rechbauerstraße 12/I, 8010 Graz in time

Continuing Studies

In subsequent semesters, your re-registration to the university (KUG or TU Graz) where you are registered is sufficient. This university then automatically advises the other university that you are continuing your studies.

Instrument Instruction, Ear Training 1

During your study program in Electrical Engineering and Audio Engineering it is required that you take 4 semesters of Instrument Instruction as a compulsory subject. The piano is the instrument taught. If you have excellent prior training in another instrument, there is the option of taking an entrance exam in IGP 2nd Instrument.
You must take Instrument Instruction 1 to 4 in four consecutive semesters. You can begin this study in Instruction Instrument – and also Ear Training 1 – in the third semester, after you have passed the exams in the following courses:
