Artistic Research

Artistic research works with forms of knowledge which cannot be grasped using scientific research methods. Included in this is the implicit knowledge on which artistic practice is based and the knowledge which manifests in the results of artistic practice and for whose communication an experience of the work of art is necessary. Artistic research seeks alternative possibilities to communicate these forms of knowledge. This endeavour can look back on a long tradition in the field of computer music, starting with the origin of electronic music and musique concrète in the 1950s.
